A Los Angeles and Roaring Fork Valley native, Oliver Bacharach is a skilled and personable outdoor leader who has worked locally as a snowboard instructor and coach, mountain bike coach, and Challenge Aspen volunteer. Prior to joining the Aspen Country Day School Outdoor Ed team for the 2025-26 school year, Oliver helped lead multiple ACDS Outdoor Ed trips and received rave reviews from students and teachers across all the different grade levels. He owns an artisanal ice cream business in Aspen and has worked in a variety of Aspen restaurants. Oliver has a BA in journalism from the University of Oregon and has participated in two National Outdoor Leadership School courses. He holds a Wilderness First Responder certification and AIARE Avalanche rescue certifications. For 10 years, Oliver toured the world with his musician father, Burt Bacharach.

Which ACDS core value is most meaningful to you, and why? 

Perseverance takes self-belief and grit and you become a stronger individual. When you persevere and struggle as a group, you become an even stronger community, with shared respect, responsibility and care.

What led you to a career in education?

Eagerness to be in a community-focused environment while promoting goodness amongst students and faculty alike.

Highland Bowl with 12+ inches of snow

A personal accomplishment you’re proud of?

I’ve done pretty well in some recent running races! However, I am most proud of all the music I played around the world with my father.
