What three items are in your starter pack?
Nature, a good pair of hiking shoes, and a raincoat.
Things that were cool when you were younger?
Tamagotchi, a little device on a keychain. You and you had to train it and feed it every day. This little piece of electronics, and you sort of pretended to be its parent. Weird, right?
When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Favorite place on campus?
Anywhere near the waters of Castle Creek.
Most interesting job before this?
I worked at a detention center with a lot of inner-city kids. It opened my eyes to the experiences they have and how lucky I was to grow up where I was. I worked on a ropes course, and you could see these kids just reinvent and improve themselves.
Something you wish would come back in style?
Life without cellphones! Everyone has them and they kind of take away from people communicating with each other. In certain aspects it has had a positive impact, but I feel it has also forced people to be constantly communicating through social media and through texting.
