Debi is originally from Wilmington, Delaware, where she taught art in public schools for a decade and was named Teacher of the Year in 2009. She is the former arts department chair at the Rumsey Hall School, a Connecticut K-9 boarding and day school. At ACDS Debi has also has coached, been active in the after-school program, created the school’s first metalworking program, and served on committees such as strategic planning and curriculum and program. She holds a BA from the University of Delaware and a BFA from Temple University. 

Which ACDS core value is most meaningful to you, and why? 

Perseverance. It’s rewarding for both teachers and students to see what can happen when we fully face our fears and challenges.

What makes a student’s experience at ACDS distinctive from other schools?

Favorite ACDS tradition and why?

Blue Green Days. It’s fun seeing kids through a different lens than art class!

Kids at ACDS have a lot of freedom to be themselves.

What energizes you?

Color, new art supplies, and sunny days.

Favorite way to spend a weekend or day off?

Playing pickleball.
