Outdoor Ed Dispatch

Aspen Country Day School Sixth and Seventh Graders have classic ski adventures each winter to build on the ski mountaineering skills introduced to them in Fifth and Sixth Grades. Students learn to use telemark gear and climbing skins, then practice on the mountainside behind campus.

The hut trip are the capstone winter experiences in the ACDS Outdoor Education program. The challenges bring a sense of pride and success to Middle Schoolers, helping them understand the balance of work, play, environmental stewardship, cohesiveness, and community. Here’s a snapshot of the winter 2023 adventures, as told by the group leaders:
