First Grade fall Outdoor Ed

Camping in Colorado in the fall: an exciting expedition for the First Graders, who have an overnight in the high country. They practice bouldering, hiking, and camping skills, then write in their journals about their adventures. Noga's class goes on Outdoor Ed Wednesday-Thursday, September 29-30. Cathy's class goes Thursday-Friday, September 30-October 1.

Third Grade fall Outdoor Ed

Third Graders learn to rock climb, guided by professional instructors. Their introduction to this classic mountain sport emphasizes safety. This is a two-day trip with camping; one group of Third Graders goes Monday-Tuesday, the second group goes Thursday-Friday.

Fifth Grade Outdoor Ed

Taking their mountain biking skills to the next level, Fifth Graders camp and explore the extensive network of trails near Fruita, Colorado.

Panel + Q&A: Why Boarding School?

A panel discussion with Q & A, with representatives of Berkshire School, Brewster Academy, Cate School, Fountain Valley School, and St. Andrew's School. Open to all families interested in learning more about life at a boarding school.

Boarding School Fair

Dozens of independent high schools on site to meet with prospective students, offer insight into boarding school programs, residential life, athletics, and more. Open to all families in the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond. See schools that will be represented at the fair.

Fourth Grade fall Outdoor Ed

Mountain biking in Western Colorado -- what could be finer? Students camp out and put their biking skills to use on the network of trails near Fruita.

Golf: the Aspen Country Day Cup

Join fellow parents, alumni, and friends of Country Day at River Valley Ranch for the return of the Aspen Country Day Cup golf tournament.

Faculty professional day

No school for students this day. All teachers and staff are engaged in professional development to further their practice and skills as educators.

Fall break, no school

A pause in the school year for all families and faculty. School resumes Monday, October 25.

Parent Teacher Conversations Day

No school for students this day. Parents are invited to structured conversations with homeroom teachers and advisors to discuss children's educational progress. These are held in person if possible, otherwise on Zoom.

Thanksgiving break

No school for students this week. School resumes Monday, November 29.

Winter break

School is closed for winter break. Classes resume Monday, January 3.

Aardvark Alumni Meetup

Aardvarks of all vintages are invited to the newly reopened Limelight Hotel in Aspen to catch up with schoolmates and some surprise teachers. If you are in town for the holidays, please stop by!

Winter Outdoor Ed expeditions

Ski touring to backcountry huts in the Tenth Mountain Trail Association network. Grades, dates, and details to come.

Spring break

A two-week spring break, all grades. Classes resume Monday, April 4.

Sixth & Seventh Grade Outdoor Ed

exact dates & program to be confirmed: From a base camp in Western Colorado, students have a week-long, multi-sport rally: canyoneering in Colorado National Monument, rock climbing in Unaweep Canyon, and paddling on an overnight raft/inflatable kayak trip on the legendary Ruby-Horsethief section of the Colorado River.

Eighth Grade Outdoor Ed, river trip

The capstone adventure of the Aspen Country Day School journey is a multi-day river trip for students. On the eve of their graduation, they head to the desert for a rafting trip on a classic itinerary on the Green River.

Last day of school

The final school day for students in PreK through Seventh Grade. See you in the fall!

Memorial Day, no school

Pausing to take a moment to remember our country and those who have safeguarded it over the years.

Graduation

An outdoor celebration of the graduates of 2021, with each student speaking about the journey now ending and adventures to come.

community hike

Walk and talk! Come join new and old friends, along with Head of School Josh Wolman, for a fun and casual hike. Meet up at the trailhead by the upper lot about 9 am, or see you along the road. Dogs and kids welcome -- in fact, this is a great opportunity for Middle School students

Making the big step up to Middle School? Parents of incoming Sixth Graders are invited to a preview of the year ahead. Teachers will be on hand to describe the program, answer questions, and give a sense of the journey throughout Middle School. RSVP in ParentSquare.

Fall outdoor ed Trips

Middle School backpacking expeditions begin in the first week of school, and all other grades from Kindergarten up venture out throughout the fall for hiking, climbing, mountain biking, and more. Playdate by the Ponds

A super-fun day out for families with young children. Come enjoy canoe rides, bubbles, outdoor games, face painting, music, and yummy food on the spectacular campus of Aspen Country Day School. This event is free and open to the public. Bring friends!

Middle school Parent Night

Come to the Middle School building to meet your child's teachers and hear about plans for the year ahead. You'll visit each class and have time for questions. Then, after the classroom portion, make your way to the lawn by the ponds for a social gathering with fellow parents and school leaders.

Psychologist and wildly popular parenting expert Dr. Becky Kennedy is coming to Aspen Country Day School to share her new book, Good Inside, and her groundbreaking approach to raising resilient, emotionally healthy kids. This event is at capacity, no more RSVPs are being taken. Thank you!

Fourth & Fifth Grade Parent Night

Start in the Castle Creek building at 5 pm to meet teachers and hear what's ahead for your children this year. That's the first hour. Then enjoy a social gathering on the lawn by the ponds from 6-7 pm.

Parent Night for First, Second, and Third Grade

Come to your child's classroom in the Lower School building to hear from teachers and ask your questions about the year ahead. Followed by a reception on the lawn by the ponds. This is a great way to start the parent-school partnership off for a successful year.
