Marci is originally from Detroit, Michigan. She came to Aspen “just for the summer” in 1993, and in a tale as old as time, she never left. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Central Michigan University. In the over three decades that she’s been at ACDS, Marci has also taught PreKindergarten and Fifth Grade in addition to Drama.
Favorite ACDS tradition and why?
The play. What a privilege for these kids to perform on the Wheeler Opera House stage!
What energizes you?
I love the process of creating and collaborating with my crew at ACDS.
What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received?
Any compliment, if sincere, is the best sort of compliment. Usually I look around and assume the compliment is meant for someone else. But I appreciate any compliment alluding to me being funny.
What’s your least favorite household task?
It’s not a household task but the chore I avoid at any cost is filling my car with gas. My brother tells me to take a Benadryl before I drive because he thinks I’m allergic to gas stations.
Favorite way to spend a weekend or day off?
There is a Scottish phrase that describes that time when you should be up and out of bed but instead you just lounge there. It’s called Hurkle-Durkle. I like to do some Hurkling and Durkling. It’s an art that I have sort of perfected.
