Sara Lowe joined Aspen Country Day School in 2024 and spends her days as a dedicated leader fostering student growth and well-being through holistic support and enriching experiences. A native of Pennsylvania, Sara has a degree in elementary education from the University of Vermont, a master’s in educational leadership from the University of Scranton, and certification from Orton Gillingham Academy as an associate-level dyslexia practitioner. She served seven years a vice principal of Aspen Elementary School. She has taught the Science of Reading to educators all over the United States as a national learning facilitator for Lexia’s LETRS (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling). She serves on the boards of Kids First and the Roaring Fork Early Language and Literacy Alliance.

Which ACDS core value is most meaningful to you, and why? 

Perseverance, because learning how to persevere through tough things makes you stronger and builds tolerance to do hard things.

What makes a student’s experience at ACDS distinctive from other schools?

The sense of community that is ever present in classrooms and on campus is really special.

Completing my Orton Gillingham Associate Level Practicum

“Things are better when you are here.”

Hidden talent or special skill?

I know how to drive tractors and dump trucks.
