Rachel moved to Aspen in 2023 to work at Aspen Country Day and ski (a lot). Originally from Brookline, Mass., she has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies and Geology from Middlebury College. She previously worked as an educator at the New England Aquarium (and got to feed a 500-lb green sea turtle), a backcountry guide in Glacier National Park, and at the High Mountain Institute in Leadville.

Bucket-list travel destination?
I’ve always wanted to go to New Zealand. I was supposed to study abroad in Christchurch in college but had to stay in the US because of the COVID-19 pandemic. I am fascinated by the geology there, especially the Alpine Fault, which marks the boundary between the Australian and Pacific tectonic plates.
A personal accomplishment you’re proud of?
I’ve been learning how to play hockey since moving to Aspen. I am truly terrible at it and frequently fall when no one is near me but I have had so much fun learning a new sport and I aspire to one day beat the infamous ACDS dad c-league team, Gibson.
Your favorite place in the world?
Brewster, Massachusetts, is my favorite place in the world. I grew up going to Brewster every summer with my family and it is the most lovely little beach town on Cape Cod. I worked at Brewster Day Camp all through high school and college and it is where I first learned the joy of working with kids.
Favorite way to spend a weekend or day off?
When I have free time, you can find me in the mountains.
If you could swap lives with anyone for a day, who would it be? Why?
Colin Jost! I think I would be a superb Weekend Update host, and being married to Scarlett Johansson would be an excellent perk!
What trend do you hope makes a comeback?
I would love to see neon ski suits come back in style. I am so tired of the same pair of black bibs that every ski bro owns. We need a little personality, spice, and dayglo orange on the slopes!
